Signs and symptoms that you need a detox:
You’ve tried all the fad diets but can't seem to curb your sugar addiction. You’ve also heard too many times how bad sugar is. So, why do we love and seek out sweet foods?
Long ago, our ancestors consumed fewer, natural forms of sugar than we do now. Back then, only sweet natural foods were available. Our ancestors did not consume refined sugary foods as we do now. We constantly seek out sweet foods due to the effects of dopamine.
Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that delivers signals to and from the brain. It helps control the feelings of reward and pleasure. That feeling you get good exercise, that's due to the release of dopamine. Dopamine is also released in response to the consumption of caffeine, drugs, and sugar.
When you eat sugar from bad carbohydrates and added sugar, signals the release of dopamine throughout your body and motivates you to seek out that pleasurable feeling.
Why don’t we get that same feeling from eating, berries?
When eating foods like berries and apples, these foods are nutrient-dense and they provide enough, nutrients that stimulate the pleasure-seeking feeling and calm the desire to eat more. In other words, you would satisfy the sweet taste without being hit with a craving.
All refined forms of sugar will rob you of nutrients and create a desire to eat more sugar. Eating more sugar will increase your blood sugar levels and cause all kinds of health issues like infertility, skin rashes, painful periods, PCOS, PMS, acne, depression, anxiety, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and fatigue.
One way proven way to curb your sugar cravings is to DETOX!
How To Detox From Sugar?
Sugar addiction is real. Many of us have trouble resisting the urge for a sweet treat or high-carbohydrate foods. Eating lots of sugar is a surefire way to raise your risk of many health problems. Having unstable blood sugar levels will always lead to hormonal imbalances, creating havoc in the body.
Nutrition Tip: Add fruits to water. This makes a great alternative to soda or sweetened beverages.
All carbohydrates (rice, bread, pasta, cakes, corn, legumes) break down into sugars. High-refined carbohydrate and low-protein meals increase insulin.
Food is not the only thing that raises your blood sugar levels. When you are stressed you can wake up with a blood sugar of 105 gm/dL, even if you eat nothing. Stress hormones, cortisol, and epinephrine will raise your blood sugar.
